CATI – computer assisted telephone interviews

WHAT IS IT? The traditional form of interviewing - “face-to-face” - has recently been more and more replaced by a more modern, faster, quite cheaper and significantly more reliable method - telephone interviewing. These interviews can either be traditional “pen-and-paper” or computer-assisted, using specialised software. The PC method - CATI (computer assisted telephone interviews) - offers many benefits - both for us, our clients and the respondents.

HOW DOES IT WORK? In our company, we strongly prefer using the CATI method. For this purpose we have a CATI studio that is equipped with professional Converso software which facilitates precise records of contacts, full control of the interviewing process by a supervisor (call tapping, following data entry on a supervision screen, visual control of the interviewers by a video circuit). Thanks to the applied software we can replay audio samples to the respondents for rating. All the workstations are networked and thus absolutely fresh data are available at any moment. An enormous advantage of the CATI system is the very easy and effective sample management, appointment arrangement etc. Respondents are sampled either randomly from telephone directories, by random-digit dialling, from specialised databases or from sample lists supplied by the research sponsor (e.g. customer lists), all this on an international scale.

WHO IS BEHIND THAT? Interviews are made by carefully selected and trained interviewers always in their native languages. Technical and organisation aspects are ensured by our specialists, reliable providers of telephone and IT services and above all by an experienced supervisor.
